We’ve had Pablo in for his second session with us and his improvement continues to be amazing.
Following on from his initial session regarding his human/dog reactivity and bite history, we built upon the fundamentals we put in place and built confidence in being handled by different handlers. Within the hour he was being walked by three different handlers without issue.
Next we introduced one of our stooge dogs to begin work on his dog reactivity and he done so well we brought out a second. Previous to this he had been reactive to dogs up to 100ft away. Pablo was walking nicely around and between two other GSD’s (video in comments) with not as much as a grumble, something that had previously been unimaginable to his owner.
We’ll continue working with Pablo, having short sessions each week going forwards and focusing on different problem areas as we move. It’s important to understand that when you’re dealing with a dog with severe issues, patience and consistency is the key.
You will not FIX a serious behaviour problem in a day or even a week. It is a team effort between you and your dog and the more you learn and grow as a handler, the more your dog will be able trust in your ability to guide them.
Well done to Sharni for getting another session under her belt and taking another leap in the right direction!
