Today we had Bella with us for some training support for leash pulling, reactivity, territorial behaviours and jumping up at guests.
We sat down and had a chat about the different issues that they were experiencing, the causes leading to them, what training they’ve done so far, the psychology encompassing the behaviours and how we were going to tackle it moving forwards.
Starting with basic obedience and eye contact drills, we worked Bella through a series of exercises to improve her engagement in both areas of low and higher distraction. This leads nicely onto teaching general leash manners which she picked up in no time at all.
By the time we began work with one of our stooge dogs for her reactivity Bella was in such a calm state of mind that she effortlessly maneuvered around without any reactivity whatsoever. The increase in confidence from her owners handling really showed and Bella took it in her stride.
Many of Bella’s issues were stemming from a place of simply not be addressed effectively and allowing the behaviours to repeat and increase in their intensity. Knowing the root cause of the behaviours and how to effectively condition them will enable her owners to confidently work through any of the issues as they present themselves.
Bella picked things up so quickly today that we have no doubts about her progress moving forwards. With the right knowledge and application at their disposal, Bella’s owners will see huge progress in her behaviour across the board for sure.
Great job today guys and good luck!
