Odin’s owner needed a bit of help addressing his leash pulling and aggressive behaviour when greeting other dogs.
As is typical with many Spaniel’s he was a little bit all over the place for his owner and had become a nightmare for pulling her from place to place. With some better foundations in place we had him walking nicely in no time with better engagement across the board.
Next we looked at what was causing his snappy behaviour with other dogs by getting one of our stooge dogs out to take a look and see what was going on. Odin had a bit of a bad experience with another dog and developed his own safety mechanism – bite before being bitten.
By conditioning a calmer response in the presence of other dogs we were able to put Odin in a less defensive mindstate and ultimately help to calm his apprehension around greeting other dogs.
With some further repetitions with a range of suitable dogs and focusing on building upon his engagement, Odin will have a new, more open, response in the greeting process.
Good work guys and keep me updated with your progress!
